Spotlighting Medallia’s Values with Global Week of Giving 2024

Medallia Culture

At Medallia, our values are our anchor and compass. Through our annual Global Week of Giving, we showcase how Medallians live by two of our values: Value People and Embrace a Growth Mindset.

November 11th kicked off Medallia’s 6th annual Global Week of Giving (GWG), our tradition of giving back across our global footprint and spotlighting how Medallians live by our values: Value People and Embrace a Growth Mindset

In just a few weeks, 206 Medallians volunteered 635 hours across Argentina, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, India, Israel, the UK, the US, and virtually.

Because of our passionate GWG Champions who organized their events from start to finish — and with 100% of our executive team sponsoring at least one event — we saw Medallians all over the world volunteer for various causes, including helping Black and Brown female entrepreneurs get more access to capital, supporting Latinx women gain insights into the tech industry, serving meals to those facing poverty, promoting green and sustainable spaces, and so much more.

GWG also continues to be a proven way to strengthen connections to our values, the company, and our colleagues. This year, we saw some impressive results from Medallians who participated:

  • 100% felt a sense of pride working for Medallia.
  • 94% felt more connected to Medallia’s values.
  • 94% stated GWG helped them feel a sense of belonging.
  • 91% felt closer to Medallians through GWG.

All of this was only possible because of our GWG Champions and their leadership. It’s my pleasure to spotlight three leaders at Medallia who made these events come to life: Emily Davis, Stefan Liute, and Alexa Farah. I asked them all why Global Week of Giving is important to them, and here’s what they shared:

Emily Davis

Vice President, Talent Acquisition — Philadelphia, USA

Giving back has always been something that I prioritize in my personal life, and Global Week of Giving takes that personal commitment and expands upon it by allowing us to organize a philanthropic event, bring together other Medallians, and make a more substantial impact in our community. And of course, having worked remotely for over 8 years with Medallia, any opportunity to bring local Medallians together and build connections is an important one.

I also love to introduce others to organizations that are making a big impact directly in their neighborhood. So often when we donate something — a bag of clothes, coats, toys, etc. — we don’t see where it goes or what happens next. It’s easy to feel disconnected from the act of helping others and I think that connection is key to staying motivated to drive change.

Cradles to Crayon and Mitzvah Circle are two local organizations I feel strongly about supporting because you can see firsthand the impact you can have on your community. While our Philadelphia Medallians were at Cradles to Crayon this year, we learned that of the 10 largest cities in this country, Philadelphia has the largest share of its population living below the poverty line on less than $30,000 for a family of four. It’s impossible to know that kind of information and not want to help those families. Clean and warm clothes support a child’s physical and mental well-being and affords them the opportunity to attend school more regularly. Our crew was so grateful to have been able to spend the day with this incredible organization and we are all looking forward to visiting them again in the future.

Stefan Liute

Software Engineering, Staff — London, UK

GWG is important to me because our colleagues (and I) love what they do during GWG. We don’t do it because Medallia mandates it, but because that’s who we are — good people. And yes, participation in GWG events clearly manifests and supports our corporate values, but not because someone told us they should. Instead, it’s because these are also our personal values — they’re there 24/7, not just in the office. It’s wonderful to spend time and work together with such great people  — that’s why I’m looking forward to GWG each year.

As some of my colleagues already know, I’m a great fan of London and its history. I love its geography, both physical and urban. I love the diversity, community spirit, and zest for life of its inhabitants, past and present. That’s why I want to keep London as clean and as beautiful as possible, so that everyone can enjoy it. The mission of The Bankside Open Spaces Trust fits this worldview like a glove, so it’s only natural that I support their work.

Alexa Farah

Senior Solutions Consultant  — Saint Paul, USA

Stewardship is a core value for me, inspired by my mom’s work as the executive director of a nonprofit. I’ve always felt a strong sense of gratitude and responsibility to help improve the communities I’m part of. Global Week of Giving matters because it reflects Medallia’s commitment to this spirit of giving back. In a way, I see it as an extension of Medallia’s mission to help our customers deliver on their promises. These promises extend beyond a simple commercial exchange and, like the activities of Global Week of Giving, reflect the communal aspiration of making things better.

The beauty of living in Minnesota is our close connection to our natural landscapes. Within 15 minutes (or less) from downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul, you can walk the banks of the Mississippi River, cross-country ski on rolling prairies, or kayak on one of our state’s many lakes. With the joy of recreation comes the responsibility of preservation. Great River Greening uses science-based best practices to restore and sustainably manage over 10,000 acres of land each year. It’s important to me to conserve and care for the water and land that enriches our lives.

Thank you to the countless Medallians and nonprofits that make Global Week of Giving a special tradition every year! To learn more about our Social Impact initiatives and our commitment to giving back, please visit our 2024-2025 Global Impact Report.
